Learn How You can make a difference in climate change

Do you work in the development aid sector? Are you a teacher or community worker commuting regularly to and from work? Are you traveling a lot because of the nature of your work? Well, if so, maybe you have often wondered about your carbon footprint.

When all the trees have been cut down, when all the animals have been hunted, when all the waters are polluted, when all the air is unsafe to breathe, only then will you discover you cannot eat money.

Cree Prophecy

There is no question that climate change is happening;

the only arguable point is what part humans are playing in it.

How it Works!

Having trees planted here in Ireland and conserving an area of rainforest in the tropics on your behalf, is a great way to sequester your work-related carbon emissions and become (somewhat) carbon neutral-but tree planting alone should not be used as an excuse to avoid meeting our obligations to cutback on our use of fossil fuels and make other life-style changes...

Does your work in the development aid sector take you to far away places like Africa, South America and S.E. Asia? Are you a teacher or community worker commuting regularly to and from work? Are you travelling a lot because of the nature of your work? Well, if so, I bet you have often wondered about your carbon footprint. Here at Just Forests we have been thinking about it too.

Please Note: Just Forests is not offering this service as a cop-out to anyone who is ignoring the need for real change. Providing a real 'local' solution to a real 'global' problem requires personal, corporate and political CHANGE!

We have more to do than just plant a tree:
Carbon offsetting is where consumers voluntarily pay to reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere. This is usually to counteract or compensate for pollution they’ve caused. There is much critism about many of the 'Carbon Offsetting' services on offer. However, we cannot ignore the great contribution trees make in sequestering carbon and Just Forests also insists that the following (simple) changes are necessary in order to minimise our carbon footprint. Some of the suggested actions here will also create and support incentives for much needed employment:

Keeping it simple and practical on your behalf:
Now you can make a donation to Just Forests to help offset your carbon emissions. We will put your donation to good work...

1. Tree planting project in Ireland and Africa:
A portion of your donation will go towards planting trees on your behalf.

2. Education:
The rest will help Just Forests development education (DE) and education for sustainable development (ESD) work as well as the production of new resources for schools.

3. Suggested donation:
Travel in Ireland €10.00 per quarter or €40.00 per year
Travel within Europe €15.00 per air flight
Travel Worldwide (outside Europe)  €25.00 per air flight

Other Donation:
Of course you can also make a separate donation if you wish, it would be gratefully appreciated.
